I ‘d think twice before going to Gurgaon always – maybe the apprehension arises due to the change of its name to ‘Guru-gram’ or the congestion I’d have to face both ways. Its mind boggling to be stuck in that jam when you have online orders to fulfill, a blog to write and emails from 4 different work mails to answer.

Skepticism and Stereotype or Preconceived notions about a place encircle my mind like a bee, specially when invited to a new place. This place was an exception due to its name and I skipped the research that I often do before heading out. Gladly, the place is a brilliant stand alone Brewery in Gurgaon. Located opposite to a busy South City Mall, but luckily enough right next to a Rapid Metro Station. With a clean parking, a guard to manage the same and a beautiful English-like building with a massive Clock tower in a vintage grey tone.

The place got me thinking. As I entered, and climbed the stairs different memory walls accompanied me on my way up including that of Tin-tin and The Common Man. The place is owned by a couple who love to travel and have put in memories of their childhood, travel (between Shimla and Rajasthan) and food all in an multi-level English style bar.

The place has got various sections including an open rooftop, ideal for a date or an evening out with friends. The restaurant features an appetising menu keeping in mind the booze its served with and tastes of all kinds of people.

Its commonly said ‘We eat with our eyes but the taste is king’. This place does absolute justice to this statement. From a portion of crunchy spring rolls, with rice crispies and two kinds of sauces to go along this sure was my favourite this evening. Although, spring roll is a very common snack there are very few people or places that make it perfect.

Next #onmyplate were the aromatic dahi ke kebab, the country fresh spinach pizza along with a big mug of Dark beer (Caffeine) to go along. While the savouries got my stomach and taste buds satisfied, it was time to loitter around the place and get to know the place better. The Furniture is exquisite, with a raw feel to it using logs for tables and wooden old-school benches for group seating. The place is dimly lit, but its got sections for you to find your spot and enjoy the place during different visits or at different times of the day.

For main course, I had a portion of Veg hakka noodles and a combo of Green Thai curry and steamed Rice. Their portion sizes are small but satiating enough for one to eat less, still be satisfied. Nothing outrageously fancy, but their food is served in black creamic vessels perfectly blending with the Art-Deco inspired furniture and ambience.

Other thing I absolutely recommend is Dessert section, for their creamy and fluffy texture. Half my appetite for the day was this chocolate brownie with icecream. The other half was from a mug of Mango beer, recommended by the server. One of the best beer I have ever had, that too freshly brewed.

A perfect drink to beat the heat, this summer. With a blend of quirk, upcycling and English interiors this place is a fab one to choose, especially when you are looking for a unique experience of food and booze along with a quaint time with your loved ones.

This place sure broke my idea of a good Brewery existing only in Bangalore and definitely, would make me travel to Gurugram to visit again and try many more places. A must try for Craft Beer lovers.
